Holland, Michigan · Insurance claims
Auto glass insurance claims.
Broken auto glass falls under comprehensive coverage, and in Michigan you pay your deductible rather than getting it waived by law. Chip repairs are often covered with little or no deductible. Bring us the vehicle and the policy: we help you get the claim set up, and from there we take it the rest of the way.

The basics
How auto glass insurance works.
Glass coverage confuses everyone, and the rules are different from a collision claim. Four things to know before you call.
Coverage
It's under comprehensive
Broken auto glass falls under comprehensive, not collision. If you carry it, your glass is usually covered.
Deductible
You pay your deductible
On a replacement you typically pay your deductible and insurance covers the rest. Michigan doesn't waive it by law.
Repair
Repairs are often free
Many policies cover a chip repair with little or no deductible, because it's cheaper than the replacement it prevents.
Your call
You choose the shop
Your insurer may suggest a shop, but the choice is yours. Bring it here and still use your coverage.
Bring us the vehicle and the policy. We help you get the claim set up, and from there we take it the rest of the way, through the paperwork.
How we help
We deal with the boring part.
A glass claim has a few moving parts: confirming coverage, getting the right glass approved, and the paperwork on the back end. We help you get the claim set up, and from there we handle the rest.
01
Call with your details
Your insurer, your policy number, and the vehicle. That's the starting point, and it's usually a five-minute call.
02
We check your coverage
We tell you whether the glass is covered and what, if anything, your deductible will be, before any glass is ordered or any work starts.
03
We handle the paperwork
We get the claim started with you and take it from there, so you're not the one sitting on hold with your insurer.
04
You get the glass done
Windshield replacement or a chip repair, camera recalibration if your vehicle needs it, and you're back on the road.
Before you call
What to have in front of you.
Have these ready and the whole thing usually moves in one phone call. Don't have all of it? Call anyway, we'll help you find what's missing.
Insurer
Your insurance company
Who you're insured with, and your policy number if it's handy. Both are on your insurance card or in your insurer's app.
Vehicle
Year, make & model
And whether the windshield has a camera or heated glass, since that affects both the price and what the claim has to cover.
Damage
What happened
A chip, a crack, a break-in, or a road-debris hit. A quick photo lets us tell you repair vs replacement before you commit to anything.
Deductible
Your glass deductible, if you know it
Not required. We can look at your coverage with you, but knowing it tells you fastest what you'll pay out of pocket.
Reviews
Two customers, six years apart, same story.
Most people only need an auto glass shop once, usually after a rough day. These are the customers who took the time to leave a review anyway.
4.5/5
Replaced my old rusty but trusty van windshield when other auto glass companies told me it couldn't be done.

Insurance questions, answered
Does insurance cover auto glass?
If you carry comprehensive coverage, broken auto glass is usually covered, minus your deductible. Chip and crack repair is often covered with little or no deductible because it's cheaper than a full replacement. Bring your insurer and policy and we'll tell you what your claim covers before anything is ordered.
Is Michigan a free windshield replacement state?
No. Michigan does not require insurers to replace glass with no deductible the way Florida, Kentucky, and South Carolina do. Whether you pay anything depends on your policy and deductible.
Can I choose my own auto glass shop?
Yes. Your insurer may suggest a shop, but the choice of who does the work is yours. You can bring your vehicle to Glass Enterprise and still use your insurance.
Will a glass claim raise my rates?
Glass claims fall under comprehensive coverage, which is treated differently from at-fault accident claims, so in many cases a glass claim doesn't affect your rate the way a collision would. Every insurer and policy is different, so check with your insurer to be sure.
Do you help with the insurance claim?
Yes. We help you get the claim set up, and from there we handle it, through the paperwork. Call with your insurer and policy details and we'll walk you through what's covered before the glass is ordered.
What information do you need to file a claim?
Your insurance company and policy number, the vehicle's year, make, and model, and a quick description of the damage. If your windshield has a camera or heated glass, mention that too, since it changes both the price and what the claim covers. Don't have all of it in front of you? Call anyway and we'll help you track it down.
Do I pay you, or the insurance company?
In most cases the covered portion is settled through your insurer and you're responsible only for your deductible, if you have one. We'll tell you exactly what your out-of-pocket will be before any glass is ordered, so there's no surprise at pickup.
How long does a glass claim take?
The claim side is usually quick, often handled the same day you call, especially for common vehicles where the glass is in stock. The longer part is only if a specific windshield has to be ordered in. We'll tell you the timeline up front.
That crack isn't going to fix itself.
Tell us the year, make, and model. We'll tell you the price and the day.
