What we replace
Marine glass most auto shops won't touch.
Boat glass is not car glass. The curves are tighter, the shapes are one-off, the glass sits in an aluminum frame instead of a bonded pinch weld, and half the time the part number is long gone. That is exactly the kind of job we take, on almost anything that runs out of the Grand Haven marinas.

The curve is the hard part
A boat windshield is often bent, not flat, and the bend has to match the frame within a hair or it will not seat or seal. Matching curved marine glass is a different job than dropping a flat auto windshield into a bonded opening.
Tempered or laminated
Marine helm glass is usually tempered safety glass, sometimes laminated, in a specific thickness. We match the type and the thickness to what the boat came with, so the replacement is as strong as the original.
Frames, not urethane
Most boat glass sits in an aluminum frame or a rubber channel, not a bonded pinch weld like a car. Getting it back in clean and watertight is its own process, and it is one we run every week.

If it's discontinued, that's the job we take.
Most shops quote a boat windshield by looking up a part number, and when the number comes back dead they are done. We are the shop people get sent to after that. An older boat that everyone else gave up on is a normal job here.

Pull the pane if the boat is slipped
For anything kept in the water up the Grand River, unbolting the windshield or the frame and driving that down is far easier than hauling out. If the boat is on a trailer already, bring the whole thing.

Send a photo before you drive 25 minutes
US-31 south is a half-hour round trip. A photo of the pane and the frame, plus the make and model, tells us what we are dealing with before you make it.

Cruiser and express windshields are usually the larger, more curved pieces, and those take longer than a flat side panel. You get a real number and a real timeline, including when the answer is that it will not be quick.

The new glass goes back into the frame or channel, bedded watertight so it holds against spray and the chop off the pierheads.

Do you replace boat windshields, or just auto glass?
Both. Marine glass is part of what we do at Glass Enterprise. We replace powerboat and runabout windshields, cabin-cruiser and express windshields, pontoon and console panels, and flat side and vent glass, in curved tempered or laminated glass. Can you do glass for a discontinued or obsolete boat?
Often, yes. If the builder is gone or the part is out of production, that is where most shops stop and it is exactly the job we take. Bring us the old glass, or the boat if that is easier, and we will tell you straight what we can do. See specialty glass.
Do you replace curved boat windshields, or only flat glass?
Both. Many boat windshields are curved, and matching that bend is the hard part of the job. We handle curved windshields as well as flat side, vent, and console panels.
Is boat glass tempered or laminated, and does it matter?
It matters, and we match what the boat came with. Marine helm glass is usually tempered safety glass, sometimes laminated, in a specific thickness. Putting back the right type and thickness is what keeps the replacement as strong as the original.
Do you do pontoon and deck-boat panels?
Yes. Helm and console windshields, gate panels, and enclosure panels that crack or fog after a few seasons. Bring the panel in and we will tell you straight whether we can do it.
Do I bring the whole boat in, or just the glass?
Either works. Pulling the old glass or the frame and bringing just that is easiest and usually fastest. If it has to be fit and sealed on the boat, bring it on the trailer to the shop on Blue Star Highway. Call first so we plan it right.
How long does a boat windshield take?
It depends on the piece. A common flat panel can be quick. A curved or special windshield takes longer, and anything we have to bring in depends on the supplier. Call with the boat and we'll tell you which yours is and how long, before you commit.
